Process Analyzer

The NPI client application has a Process Analyzer to prevent incomplete processes from being released to production. Using the Process Analyzer, you can define checks for items like missing part assignments, missing work instructions—even missing Operator Interface templates to perform against the current process revision. After configuring the analysis, you can save your configuration settings as a template to use with other process definitions.

  1. Log into the NPI client application.

  2. Select Process Engineering , then open a product or assembly.

  3. At the top of the window, select the Process Analyzer Process Analyzer button button.

The Process Analyzer window opens at the bottom of the Process Definition window.

  4. Select the Configure Configure button button.

The Process Analyzer Configuration dialog has three categories with options to check: part assignments, the process flow itself, and the shop floor configuration. Each option has a description to help you decide whether you want to ignore the check or see errors and warnings related to that option. For example, Unassigned Parts looks for unassigned parts in the process, then lists all unassigned parts when you run the analysis.

  5. In the Process Analyzer Configuration dialog, select what happens when each check is performed (Error, Warning, or Ignore).

  6. To save these settings as a template for later reuse, select the Save As Template button, enter a name for the template, then select OK

  7. Select OK to exit the dialog.

  8. To run the Process Analyzer against this product or assembly, select the Run Analysis Run Analysis button button.

When the analysis is finished, the results are displayed. On the right side of the window, you can use the buttons to toggle the report display (Errors, Warnings).
