Split UID

Splitting a UID is the opposite of splicing a UID. In PCB manufacturing for example, there may be situations where only a single reel of a specific part is available in the stock room but it's needed on two different assembly lines in production. In such cases, the reel can be split into two different reels of parts with two separate UIDs. 

1. Log into the FactoryLogix website and select Logistics.

2. Select Split UID on the left side of the window.

3. Scan the barcode or enter the UID of the reel you will split, then select the Retrieve UID button.
   
   The part information for the material instance is displayed along with a New Quantity selector.

4. Use the slider to adjust exactly how many parts should be split off into a new material instance (UID) or enter a number smaller than the total quantity available from the original UID. 

5. Select the Split UID button.
    
   
   

   
   A new UID is generated for this part at the quantity specified and the original UID quantity is reduced in inventory by the same amount. If a label printer is already set up, a new UID label is also printed.
