The following procedure uses SQL Server 2014. (If you are running SQL Server 2012, the procedure is identical.)

Before backing up the database, be sure to turn off all FactoryLogix services—the backup will fail if services are using the database.

  1. Select Start > Microsoft SQL Server 2014 > SQL Server Management Studio(For SQL Server 2012, SQL server tiles should display on the Start Screen UI to start SQL Server Management Studio.)

  2. In the Object Explorer, expand Databases, right-click the FactoryLogix Database you are backing up, then select Tasks > Back Up.

Note

When performing a backup, consider the amount of space needed for the backup and the free space available at the chosen destination. If the default destination does not have enough free space, you'll need to change it.

  1. (Optional) To change the backup destination, select Remove, then select Add in the Back Up Database dialog. Select the Browse (...) button, browse to the desired backup location in the Select Backup Destination dialog, then select OK.

  2. Review the settings in the Back Up Database dialog, then select OK to start the backup.

    When the backup is complete, you will see a message indicating that the backup completed successfully.
