Command line parameters to auto-launch dashboards and slide shows

Using command line parameters, you can modify the properties of the iMonitor Viewer desktop shortcut you created to auto-launch dashboards and slide shows without manually selecting options from the iMonitor Viewer application. (See Create a desktop shortcut for iMonitor Viewer if you haven't yet created one.) Note

For true, hands-free automation, you can configure the iMonitor Viewer desktop shortcut to run dashboards and/or slide shows automatically at Windows startup. See the following procedure for details.

Use the following command line parameters, symbols, and rules to specify the dashboards and/or slide shows you want to auto-launch when you double-click the iMonitor Viewer desktop shortcut:

Run the slide show The Factory in full screen mode

  1. Log into the Analytics client application, then select iMonitor Designer.

  2. Select File > Open, then locate and select the dashboard or slide show you want to run automatically.

  3. Select Save As.

  4. Use the options on the Grant Access tab to ensure that the dashboard or slideshow has the correct access permissions granted before you run it automatically in iMonitor Viewer, then select OK.

  5. Right-click the iMonitor Viewer desktop shortcut icon, then select Properties.

  6. Select the Shortcut tab, then modify the Target field using the command line parameters for the dashboard or slide show you want to run.

    Now when you double-click the iMonitor Viewer desktop shortcut, the specified dashboard and/or slide show will run automatically.

  7. (Optional) To set up a dashboard and/or slide show to run automatically at Windows startup, do the following:

    • Drag and drop theiMonitor Viewer desktop shortcuticon you created and customized into your Windows Startup folder located here:

      C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

      (Be sure to also enable viewing of hidden folders so you can see them.) The next time you start Windows, the specified dashboard and/or slide show will open and run automatically.

Run a dashboard or slide show from a command prompt

An optional way to open and run a dashboard or slideshow is to open a Command Prompt window, then enter the command line parameters for the dashboard and/or slideshow you want to run. Here's an example:
