You can also access the Containers window from the NPI client application by logging into NPI, then selecting Logistics > Containers. See the Carriers and Packout topics for more information.

In the Containers window, you can maintain an inventory of containers in FactoryLogix for traceability purposes. The two categories in this area are:

  • Carriers

  • Boxes

  1. Log into the Production client application.

  2. Select the Advanced Features Advanced Features button (Production)Image Removed button image-20240828-164903.pngImage Added button (the gear) at the top of the window, then select Containers.

  3. To create a new carrier or box, select Carriers or Boxes under Categories on the left side of the Containers window.

    A list of available inventory types is displayed.

  4. Select a type of carrier or box under Available Inventory Types.

  5. Do one of the following:

    • Select an existing carrier or box from the list, then select the Add

    • Select the Add

  6. (Optional) To view an inventory of a selected (existing) carrier or box, select the View Inventory

  7. Do one of the following:

    • Enter a unique barcode to be used for selected carrier or box in the Barcode field.

    • Select the Auto Generate Barcode check box to generate barcodes automatically for the carriers or boxes.

  8. Continue to add new carriers or boxes as needed until all new material instances are created.

  9. (Optional) To remove a selected carrier or box under Current Inventory Type, select the Delete Item

  10. (Optional) To edit the properties of a selected carrier or box, select the Properties

  11. (Optional) To delete a selected existing carrier or box completely, select the Delete Image Removed Delete buttonImage Added button under Available Inventory Types.

Warning

When you delete an available carrier or box from the available inventory types, it is deleted permanently.

  1. Select the Submit button in the lower-right corner of the window to add the new items to your inventory.
