The following tables describe the available adapter settings you can specify for a selected inForce xLink adapter on the Settings tab of the xLink Servers window in NPI.
To access the xLink Servers window, log into the NPI client application, then select System Configuration > xLink Configuration.
Adapter options
Property | Description |
---|---|
Upstream Machine Serial Number | Specifies the user-entered serial number of the machine located upstream from the selected inForce 2.0 device. Note Leave the serial number field blank if the upstream machine doesn't generate events. The bookending modes are determined using the upstream machine serial number, downstream machine serial number, and downstream eventing settings. If you specify the upstream machine's serial number, an Item Transfer Out (ITO) will be generated. |
Downstream Eventing | Specifies the downstream xLink adapter settings. In order to have a complete WIP transaction in FactoryLogix, at least three events must be present – IIR, ITI, and ITO.
|
Disable Passcode | Specifies a four-digit PIN that allows the inForce device to be disabled (Bypass mode). Note To disable security, set the PIN to 0000. |
Administrator Passcode | Specifies a four- to seven-digit PIN that allows the device that restricts access to device configurations. Note To disable security, set the PIN to 0000. |
Failed Barcode Scan Retry Count | Specifies the number of times to attempt to read a barcode before sounding an audible alarm. |
Enable Alarm Tower Sound | Enables/disables the alarm tower sound. |
Enable Barcode Scanning | Enables/disables capturing barcodes from a barcode scanner. |
PCB Verifier IP Address | Specifies the IP address or machine name of the workstation running PCB Verifier (leave blank to disable this property). |
PCB Verifier IP Port | Specifies the port number configured in PCB Verifier that allows PCB Verifier to communicate with the selected inForce adapter. |
Set Active Batch for Workstations | A list of workstations (FactoryLogix resource names) separated by semicolons ;. If you set this property to a non-empty value, the active batch will be set for each listed workstation by this xLink adapter. |
Validation options
Property | Description |
Validate Entry Conditions | Validates a scanned barcode to indicate that the product can be started at the associated operation. |
Validate Line Stop | Validates whether there is a line stop at the workstation. |
Validate Material Setup | Validates that all materials have been loaded. |
Validate Workstation Restriction | Validates whether the scanned board should be allowed to be scanned at this workstation. |
Validate Route | Validates whether the scanned board should be allowed to be scanned at this operation. |
Entry Condition Retry Settings
Property | Description |
Max Retry Count | Specifies the maximum number of times to retry the entry condition validation before notifying the operator. The default value is 0. |
Retry Delay (ms) | Specifies the amount of time (in ms) to wait before attempting entry condition validation. The default value is 1000 ms (=1 second). |
SMEMA Signal Logic Options
Property | Description |
Board Available Upstream Logic | Specifies the signal that prompts inForce to begin listening for a barcode:
|
Board Available Downstream Logic | Specifies the signal logic to use for the Board Available SMEMA signal.
|
Machine Ready Upstream Logic | Specifies the signal logic to use for the Machine Ready SMEMA signal.
|
Machine Ready Downstream Logic | Specifies the signal logic to use for the Machine Ready SMEMA signal.
|
Board Fail Upstream Logic | (Used in conjunction with the Diverter options.) Specifies the signal logic to use for the Board Fail SMEMA signal.
|
Board Fail Downstream Logic | (Used in conjunction with the Diverter options.) Specifies the signal logic to use for the Board Fail SMEMA signal.
|
Serial Port Options
Property | Description |
---|---|
Enable Serial Port Transmission | Enables or disables sending barcodes via a Serial port. |
Baud Rate | Specifies the baud rate of the serial port (9600, for example). |
Data Bits | Specifies the number of data bits in each character value transmitted or received. This value does not include stop bits or parity bits. |
Stop Bits | Specifies the standard number of stop bits per byte:
|
Handshake | The hardware handshake protocol for flow control:
|
Parity | Specifies the parity bit for error checking:
|
Write Timeout (ms) | Specifies the timeout value for a Write operation in milliseconds (ms). The default value is 1000 milliseconds (=1 second). |
Read Timeout (ms) | Specifies the timeout value for a Read operation in milliseconds (ms). The default value is 1000 milliseconds (=1 second). |
Transmission Delay (ms) | Specifies the number of milliseconds (ms) to delay before transmitting to the serial port. The default is 500 milliseconds. |
Transmission Mode | Specifies the mode that determines when to transmit to the serial port:
|
Wait to Receive LON Command From Machine | When selected, specifies that a LON command must be received from the machine before transmitting to the serial port. |
Enable Post Barcode Processing | Enables/disables post processing when receiving barcodes. Note Enable Post Barcode Processing is a legacy setting which should be set to OFF under most circumstances. |
Post Barcode Processing RegEx | A regular expression to use for removing unwanted characters from a barcode that was received. |
Preambles | The set of characters at the start of a barcode for serial transmission. You can use a combination of numeric, alpha-numeric, and decimal characters. Aegis supports any decimal characters by the following method '<##>'.
Note All decimal numbers are translated to their hexadecimal equivalents. |
Postambles | The set of characters at the end of a barcode for serial transmission. You can use a combination of numeric, alpha-numeric, and decimal characters. Aegis supports any decimal characters by the following method '<##>'.
Note All decimal numbers are translated to their hexadecimal equivalents. |
Diverter Options
Property | Description |
---|---|
Enable Diverting Conveyor Logic | When selected, the downstream BOARD FAIL signal controls diverting units that fail route validation. |
Diverter Workstations | A semicolon-separated ; list of allowable workstations (FactoryLogix resource names) into the diverter; otherwise the unit will wait to be removed manually from the conveyor line. Note If you leave this property blank, all failed route validations will be diverted. |
Debug Options
Property | Description |
---|---|
Enable Remote inForce Logging | When selected, enables event logging from the inForce console unit to the Service log under the Debug Level. |
