Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) impacts the electronics industry and many electrical products as well. The original RoHS, also known as Directive 2002/95/EC, originated in the European Union in 2002 with the goal of restricting the use of specific hazardous substances found in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) that are identified as presenting a risk to human health and the environment. (For more information about RoHS, see the European Commission website.)

FactoryLogix helps manufacturers mark and track RoHS-compliant inventory items throughout the manufacturing process. All Inventory UIDs, including tooling or other parts, can be updated and marked for RoHS compliance in the Inventory Management window (accessed from either NPI or Production) by adding the optional column Is RoHS using the Column Chooser feature.

  1. Log into the Production or NPI client application.

  2. Do one of the following to display the Inventory Management window:

    • In Production, select Advanced Features > Inventory.

    • In NPI, select Logistics >Inventory.

  5. Scroll through the available column headers, then drag Is RoHS from the Column Chooser to the desired position in the table.

  6. Select the desired part or tool in the table, then use the check box in the Is RoHS column to mark the selection True for RoHS compliance.

Your selections are highlighted in Blue to indicate pending changes and will remain Blue until committed to the database when you select the Save button.

  7. Repeat Step 6 as necessary for other parts or tools in inventory.

RoHS selections are highlighted in Blue when you change them

  8. When you're finished marking RoHS inventory items, select Save in the lower-right corner of the window to save your selections to the database

Tip

The Column Chooser allows you to customize your Inventory Management items any way you like. You can drag and drop columns from the Column Chooser onto the table. You can also delete unnecessary columns by dragging them from the table back to the Column Chooser. Other menu commands available when you right-click a column header allow you to sort, search, group, and filter data in the Inventory Management window and optimize how column data fits in the table.
