The Components tab of the Juki Setup dialog offers a powerful environment for accelerating the time it takes to define new parts not yet known in the Juki parts library. This is accomplished using a powerful search engine to identify suitable component candidates for a new part number using the component’s dimensions, lead count, lead pitch, and component name as criteria. Potential part candidates are ranked and listed. You visually determine and align the part orientation, assign and confirm the match, then the part is added directly to the Juki part library.

When you select the Setup Setup button button in Part Management and Troubleshooting in the Process Definition window, the software evaluates what—if any—new components are assigned to the board that cannot be found in the Juki IS database. The Components tab of the Juki Setup dialog will be enabled and selected when one or more undefined components are found—otherwise the tab will be dimmed. Component information will populate with the number of undefined components, then you use the dialog options to step through and configure each component, then confirm the component and add it directly to the Juki IS server.

Note:

The terms component and part number are synonymous when working in the Juki IS machine programming environment.

Juki Setup dialog - Components tab

OptionDescription
Component Information

The Component Information area of the Juki Setup dialog's Components tab provides a guided walkthrough of all new components that need to be added to the Juki IS machine. You can quickly search for the appropriate component and configure attributes for the component before confirming it and and adding it directly to the Juki IS server. When all the component fields are populated and you select the desired component, selecting the Confirm button commits the results and moves to the next undefined component. After confirming a component, the component count will also be reduced – for example 1 of 10 will change to 1 of 9.

The primary goal of the Component Information area of the dialog is to do the following:

  • Enter the appropriate Juki IS package
  • Select the appropriate comment
  • Enter the appropriate height

Once these values have been entered, select the Confirm button to commit the changes. Repeat these steps until you have stepped through and confirmed all of the components.

Name - The name of the component—this component has not yet been used in the Juki IS or added to the Juki IS server. (These are the part numbers found in your imported BOM for the assembly that are not yet known in the Juki parts library.)

Copied From <Select from candidate list> - Select the correct component from the Candidate Components area of the dialog.

Comment - Populated automatically with the component description.

Height - (Optional) Specifies the seated height for the component.

Confirm - Select this button to confirm all of the component information and add the new part number to the Juki part library.

Juki Component Selection

The Juki Component Selection area of the Juki Setup dialog is used to assign a Juki IS package to the selected component (Name field) in the Component Information area of the dialog.

CAD Component Data - Displays the CAD component image and details (Name, Type, Leads, and Pitch)

Juki Component - When you select a Juki component from the Candidate Components list, the component's image and details are displayed. This is the Juki component you will assign to the CAD component. Details about the Juki component are displayed next to the image (Name, Type, Pckaging type, L/W/H (size), Leads, and Pitch).

When you select a package from the Candidate Components list, select the Select button to link this package to the component. Select Confirm in the upper-right corner of the dialog to commit the results to the Juki IS server.

Juki Component Search - Changing the search criteria allows you to expand or reduce the available Juki IS package candidates displayed in the Candidate Components list on the right side of the dialog.

For example, if you change the Name field in the Component Information area of the dialog from Package1234 to 0805, you can select the Search button under Juki Component to refine searching the Juki IS package further.

Candidate Components - Displays all the Juki candidate components available to associate with the new component displayed under the Component Information area of the dialog.

  • List All – Displays an unfiltered list of all Juki IS packages.

    Warning!

Components without vision data (SOTs, for example) will not be displayed. In such cases, you must select the List All button, then find the appropriate component manually.
