ADMINISTRATOR

Specific database permissions are required in order to upgrade your FactoryLogix database using the Server Management tool. The administrator who performs the upgrade must have the sysadmin fixed SQL server-level role (or an equivalent permission such as the securityadmin role).

Before performing a database upgrade, add the server role sysadmin to the Windows account running FactoryLogix Server Management or the SQL user authenticating against the database. Note that this configuration also depends on the administrator having that Windows account already added and configured for SQL access/login.

Note

The procedure outlined in this topic may very slightly depending on the version of SQL Server and SQL Server Management Studio you use. For more information about SQL server-level roles, see this Microsoft article.

  1. Start SQL Server Management Studio.

  2. Navigate to Security > Server Roles > sysadmin.

  3. Right-click sysadmin, then select Properties.

    System Administrator (SA) role

  4. Select the Add button, then use the Browse button to locate the user you want to assign to the sysadmin role.

Select Server Login or Role dialog

  5. Select OK until you are returned to the SQL Server Management Studio window.
