Dashboard basics
Create or close a dashboard
Note
This topic assumes that you understand the concept and properties of a process flow and that data currently exists in the FactoryLogix Database.
Log into the Analytics client application, then select iMonitor Designer.
When you first open iMonitor Designer, a default dashboard named Dashboard 1 is created automatically.Select File > New to create Dashboard 2.
Select the Close button (the "X") in the upper-right corner of the dashboard to close the dashboard.
Note
Selecting Close doesn't delete a previously-saved dashboard; it only removes it from the work area. If the dashboard wasn't saved previously, selecting Close and selecting No when the confirmation prompt displays will discard any changes you made to the dashboard.
Save a dashboard and grant access
Log into the Analytics client application, then select iMonitor Designer.
With Dashboard 1 (or another dashboard) open, select File > Save As.
Enter a Name and optional Description for the dashboard.
Select the Use as mini dashboard check box to save this dashboard in small form as a mini dashboard.
A dashboard is saved as a mini dashboard in order to be utilized in Production as part of an operator interface.Select the Grant Access tab.
Select the users and groups who can access the dashboard, then select OK.
Save a copy of a dashboard
If you have a previously-saved dashboard that you want to use again with some modifications, you can save a copy of the dashboard with a different name and use the copy as a template for the new dashboard.
Log into the Analytics client application, then select iMonitor Designer.
Select File > Open, locate and select the dashboard, then select Open.
Select File > Save As.
Enter a new name for the dashboard, then select OK.
You can now use the copied dashboard to create a new dashboard.
Open an existing dashboard
Log into the Analytics client application, then select iMonitor Designer.
Select File > Open to display a list of saved dashboards. (If dashboards were created by multiple users, you can select Show everyone's dashboards.)
Select Dashboard 1, then select OK.
Delete a dashboard
Log into the Analytics client application, then select iMonitor Designer.
Select File > Open to display a list of saved dashboards. (If dashboards were created by multiple users, you can select Show everyone's dashboards.)
Right-click a dashboard, then select Delete (this is the only way to delete a dashboard permanently).
Select OK to confirm the deletion
Notice that the first saved dashboard in the list will now be opened in the iMonitor Designer window.
Customize the work area
iMonitor Designer has a flexible work area that you can customize to suit the way you work. You can show, hide, and move the Toolbox, Properties, and Gadgets windows, resize the windows, and undock them to use as free-floating windows so you have more space in the work area to design and view dashboards.
To auto-hide the Toolbox, Gadgets, or Properties windows and maximize the work area space for dashboards, select the push pin button in the upper-right corner of the control. The control will collapse into a tab on the side of the iMonitor Designer window. To dock a control, select the tab, then select the push pin button and the control will remain visible in the window. (Optionally, you can achieve the same result by right-clicking the window title bar and selecting Auto Hide and Dock from the menu.)
To undock and change the location of the Toolbox, Gadgets, or Properties window, position the cursor on the title, drag the window to a new location, then resize it if desired. Optionally, you can right-click the window's title bar and select Float to make the window free-floating. To re-dock the window in its original position and size, right-click the window title and select Dock.
To remove the Toolbox, Gadgets, or Properties windows from the work area, select the X button in the upper-right corner of the window. To place the window back into the work area, select the View menu, then select the window you want to display.
Resize the work area
To resize the work area (the grid) to make room for more dashboard items, maximize the window and scroll (if necessary) to see the right and lower edges of the grid. Drag one of the "handles" to resize the work area (right side, bottom, or lower-right corner of the grid).
