The Production Planning tool in the Logistics area of the NPI client application includes a materials reservation system. You can use these tools independently, but they are more powerful when used together.
There are some key items you need to set up before using Production Planning:
- Specify the estimated cycle time at the operation level to calculate the overall production time for a batch. (See (de) Einen Vorgang zu einem Prozessfluss hinzufügen for details.)
- Configure kit groups based on resource types. (See (de) Rüstgruppen for more information.)
Material reservations can generate transportation orders that drive the picking and delivery of materials. Configuring kit groups based on resource types will help you get the most out of these material reservations.
