The Aegis xLink architecture is a “plug-in” style mechanism hosted by a Windows service. Each xLink adapter is a translator that converts a piece of manufacturing equipment’s proprietary data language into an Aegis “common” language based on the IPC CAMX (2541, 2546, 2547) standards.

xLink adapters generate CAMX XML messages that are processed by a singular, optimized data processing engine into the FactoryLogix database. Our human UI-based production terminals use this same processing engine to ensure that all data is processed through the same logic, regardless of source.

Aegis xLink data collection

xLink adapters are only developed and published by Aegis. Aegis has formalized partnerships with 37 of the most prominent equipment vendors (mostly surrounding the electronics assembly industry). We work closely with equipment vendor engineering teams to build our xLink integrations. We also build integrations for a wide variety of other machines and equipment outside of our partnerships; an area in which we have decades of experience, and where we are often required to reverse engineer integrations or work from vendor-provided specifications.

xTend API

For customers and third-party integrators who want to build their own machine integrations, we provide the xTend API. Through the API, you can perform all of the same transactions that an xLink adapter can perform. The API is backed by the same processing engine, so all of the benefits of xLink are available to third parties to build their own Windows service or any type of application to communicate with equipment and process transactions into FactoryLogix.

See xTend API documentation for access to the xTend API documentation.
