In certain circumstances, it may be necessary to configure the IP address and related information rather than depending on a DHCP server to issue one. To do this, you need to use the web-based Windows 10 IoT Core dashboard.

Note:

To install and/or learn more about the Windows 10 IoT Core dashboard, consult your Microsoft documentation.

  1.  Start the Windows 10 IoT Core dashboard.

  2. Get the device IP address from the Discovery window.

  3. On a computer connected to the same subnet, open a web browser and navigate to the device's IP address on port 8080 using the format http://<device_IP>:8080.

For example, the inForce device in the following illustration is accessed by entering http://10.1.6.245:8080.

  4. Enter the following credentials to launch the Windows 10 IoT Core device configuration portal.

    • Username: administrator

    • Password: inForce (If this doesn't work, use p@ssw0rd.)

      Device Settings

  5. In the Windows 10 IoT Core device configuration portal, expand the Connectivity section and select Network.

  6. Select the IPv4 Configuration button, enter the desired IP settings, then select Save.

The device will reset the network interface and you can now reconnect using the newly-updated IP address.
