Add an xLink adapter and connect to the xLink Server

xLink Configuration button

The first time you turn on the inForce device, you see the message: "The inForce device is currently in pairing mode. Please discover device from FactoryLogix NPI application." Now you're ready to add an inForce xLink adapter and connect to your default xLink Server in the NPI client application.

  1. With a single inForce unit in discovery/pairing mode, log into the FactoryLogix NPI client application.

  2. Select System Configuration > xLink Configuration.

  3. In the upper-left corner of the window under xLink Servers, select Add xLink Adapter Add button.

  4. In the Add New xLink Adapter dialog, enter a name for the new adapter in the Adapter Name field.

  5. Use the Workstation drop-down to select a workstation to associate with this adapter.

  6. Ensure that Aegis Extensions (the default setting) is selected in the Fault Type drop-down.

Note

IPC 2546 Fault Messages is a legacy setting used for backward compatibility only.

  1. (Optional) When you select Process Parent Barcode and the machine is sending circuit barcodes, only the parent barcode (a panel or carrier) and all its children will be processed instead.

  2. (Optional) When you select Run in a Separate Logfile Output, the adapter runs in its own separate CAMX logfile subscriber when the CAMX logfile server option is ON.

  3. Under Machine Types, select inForce Line Attendant.

  4. Select OK.

The new inForce adapter is added to your xLink Server.

  5. In the xLink Servers window on the Settings tab, select 2.0 from the inForce Version drop-down.

  6. On the right side of the window, select the Discover Device Discover Device button button.

The inForce unit which is currently in discovery/pairing mode is found and associated with the new adapter instance—provided the device is on the same subnet as the xLink Server.

Once discovered, the screen attached to the inForce device will turn white and you will see the status Waiting for Unit.
