License activation and control

The PLC-CFX Gateway will not work without a connection license for each device you configure. The license is activation code-based—your activation code is supplied by Aegis.

Warning!

You cannot share a license between multiple gateways—each gateway must have its own license.

Activate or deactivate a license

  1. Log into the CFX Gateway and select Settings on the left side of the window.
  2. Under Licensing, enter the activation code given to you by Aegis in the License Activation Code field.

  3. Select the Save button in the lower-right corner of the window to save your license hanges.
  4. (Optional) In cases where you want to move your license to another Gateway running on a new server, select the De-Activate button on the right side of the window, then select Save to save your changes.

Connect to a CFX broker host

The CFX Gateway requires a connection to a CFX broker to publish the CFX messages it generates from PLC data. The Settings area of the CFX Gateway allows you to define and view configuration settings for a connection to a CFX broker host.

  1. Log into the CFX Gateway and select Settings on the left side of the window.

  2. Enter the settings for the CFX broker host using the information shown in the following table.

    Property

    Description

    CFX Broker Host

The URL used to establish the connection. This connection uses the "amqps://" scheme for encrypted/secure message transmission. The default port is 5672.

    CFX Exchange

The queue on the CFX broker where all CFX messages are sent.

    CFX Request URL

Typically, the URL of a service account—not a specific user.

    CFX Request Handle

The CFX handle used to request messages broadcast by the CFX Gateway.

    Device Handshake Timeout

A millisecond value used by the CFX Gateway to determine when to abandon a communication if the handshake was started but fails to complete.

  3. Select Save to save the settings.

    Important

When defining the CFX broker host, the configuration of the broker may require the URL to include the credentials of the account to be to establish this connection. In such cases, you must construct the URL as follows:

    amqp://<Username>:<Password>@<HostServer>:<Port>

    Example
    amqp://Fred:FredsPassword@cfxbroker.connectedfactoryexchange.com:5672
