ADMINISTRATOR

Unplanned downtime depends on how quickly FactoryLogix system failures are reported to administrators and how soon the recovery process can start.

The automatic failover mechanism of Microsoft Clustering Services (MSCS) or Database Mirroring (DBM) provide continuous availability of the FactoryLogix system. However, a failover itself will roll back open transactions on the database side and cause rollbacks on business transactions on the FactoryLogix side. The impact of these batch processes breaking and data not being available can be serious. We recommend that you monitor the health of the FactoryLogix system and report failovers immediately so that interrupted FactoryLogix business processes can be restarted as quickly as possible.

Many SQL health check tools are available; the tool you use depends on your system and health check requirements. We recommend you use a SQL health check tool to improve performance and availability, so you can gauge overall database health and recover from failovers quickly.
