A carrier is an effective way to contain multiple assemblies under a single barcode or Unique ID (UID). For example, in electronics manufacturing, printed circuit board (PCB) carriers provide a safe and efficient handling system for delicate circuit boards. Multiple PCBs can be loaded onto a rack, fixture, or pallet (other terms used for carriers).

In FactoryLogix, you create carriers, add them to inventory, then add a step and activity to a process definition for the carriers to be used in production. After assemblies are loaded onto a carrier, they can be moved through manufacturing operations with a single scan.
