Each operation you create in a process flow/process definition can have multiple steps and each step can have multiple activities associated with it. The following illustration shows a Standard step in the Process tree and three activities associated with the step; the right side of the window shows the Settings dialog.

Note:

In FactoryLogix, steps are also referred to as work instructions.

Standard step with three activities

When you double-click an operation in the Process tree to open it for editing, there are two ways you can add a step to the operation:

  • Select one of four wizards (guided) on the Document Tools tab of the Process Definition window to to help you set up the step for the current operation. (See Create a step using a wizard for more information.)

  • Select an individual step type under Step List on the left side of the window, then double-click the step and use the Settings dialog to specify step settings.
