Access SPC data sources

Statistical Process Control (SPC) output from DataMiner includes pre-configured chart layouts and details. Control charts show limits that represent the expected level of variation in products. You can create quality-related p and µ charts and measurement-related histograms with minimal setup and data manipulation. You can also analyze Pareto charts with cumulative percentage detail to identify the significance of the highest contributors.

To access SPC options in the Analytics client application, do the following:

  1. Log into the Analytics client application.

  2. Select Data Miner Data Analysis in the Home window to open DataMiner.

  3. In the lower-left area of the DataMiner window, select the SPC data source category to display the individual SPC data sources in the Data Sources list.

The SPC Data Sources category in DataMiner (on the left side of the DataMiner window) has three data sources you can use to create SPC charts:

    • SPC Defective Units (using defects or symptoms)

    • SPC Measurements

    • SPC Total Defects (based on defects or symptoms)

      SPC data sources

  4. Double-click a data source under SPC on the left side of the window, then select the Options tab on the right side of the window to view specific options for that data source.

Example: SPC Measurements data source

In the following example, the SPC Measurements data source is selected. Selecting the Measurements button on the Options tab displays additional options for creating histograms. If you select the Measurements button, enter an asterisk * in the Lookup field, then press Enter, all currently-available measurement types are displayed.

Note

Available measurement types in the SPC Measurements data source can originate from machine data, collection activities you define in the NPI Process Definition window (True/False Activity, Number Activity, Attach File Activity, List Activity, and so on) and other sources. Measurement data is updated automatically by the FactoryLogix system whenever a new measurement type becomes available.

You can also view measurement data in the Trace window of the Production client application. When you enter a unit barcode to trace, you can view all the measurements which were recorded against that unit on the Parametric tab.
