When working with 3D CAD images, there may be times when you want to separate one or more parts from an assembly and rotate them to bring attention to a specific part feature.

Note

Not all 3D CAD formats support this feature. If the Show Handles command is dimmed in the menu when you right-click a part, the feature isn't supported.

Note

Separating and rotating parts with this feature is temporary; changes you make are not saved with the selected view. If you want to show an assembly with separated and rotated parts, use the Snapshot toolbar button to save a *.png image of the assembly with separated and rotated parts.

  1. In the Process Definition window, select the desired view under Views.

  2. Right-click a part, then select Show Handles from the menu. (Use Ctrl+click to select multiple parts.)

Select a part to separate from the assembly

  3. Position the cursor at the intersection point of the 3D axes, then drag the part away from the assembly to a blank area of the window.

    Select Show Handles

  4. Use the handles to rotate the part.
