An equipment profile allows CFX capabilities to be supported by devices utilizing the equipment profile you specify. You create and modify an equipment profile in the Devices area of the CFX Gateway (Edit Devices).

Note:

See Event triggers and supported CFX messages for details about the (read only) settings and capabilities assigned to your defined equipment profiles.

Select equipment profile settings

  1. Select Devices on the left side of the CFX Gateway window to view a list of all available devices.

  2. On the right side of the window, select the Edit Device Edit Device button button next to the device whose equipment profile you want to create, edit, or duplicate.

    Edit Device dialog

    Note:

Before an equipment profile can be saved, you must assign a name to it that is unique across all equipment profiles defined in the CFX Gateway.

  3. In the Edit Device dialog, select the Add Equipment Profile Add Equipment Profile button, Edit Equipment Profile Edit Equipment Profile button, or Duplicate Equipment Profile Duplicate Equipment Profile button button to add, edit, or duplicate an equipment profile for this device (for this example, we selected Edit).

    • The default value is one.

Using these settings, the message properties you define for each CFX capability to be supported by a device are tailored to ensure that only the required properties must be configured:

Select CFX capabilities and message properties

In the lower portion of the Edit Equipment Profile dialog, you specify the CFX capabilities and associated message properties to use for the equipment profile.

When you select a CFX capability on the left side of the window, the right side of the window lists the message properties for each CFX message supported by that capability.

  • Each message property for a selected CFX capability in an equipment profile is mapped to a tag defined for the device.
  • If the name of a tag on the device is a case-insensitive match to a message property, the tag on the device is automatically mapped to its namesake message property.
  • Each message property may have a tag expression defined. (If a tag expression is defined for a message property, it overrides any mapping by name.)

WIP tracking capability

The WIP Tracking capability allows a device to record WIP transactions using the WorkStarted and WorkCompleted CFX messages. A device can report WIP data several ways:

  • A periodic notification of the number of units processed since the last notification
  • A periodic notification of the total number of units processed since the counter was last at zero
  • A notification when work is completed
  • A notification when work has started and another when work is completed

    Note:

The device can report work performed on a non-serialized product, a serialized product, products in a panel, products in a carrier, and so on.

  1. Select a CFX capability on the left side of the window.

The right side of the window displays the associated message properties for each CFX message supported by that capability.

    Selected CFX Capabilities

  2. Use the Check All and Uncheck All Check All and Uncheck All buttons buttons to select all capabilities and display or hide the associated message properties for each CFX message supported by those capabilities.
  3. When you're finished setting up the equipment profile, select the Save button in the lower-right corner of the window to save the equipment profile settings.
